What would you ask the artists of your favorite show?
A few Amazon employees who are fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Rings of Power got the chance to do this recently. The Amazon employees asked the producers of the series and members of its cast, including Robert Aramayo and Morfydd, Charlie Vickers, and Sara Zwangobani, their most important, daring, and burning questions. Here is what they said.
Dana Kempler: What was the most difficult and the best part of the filming of the Lord of the Rings series?
J.D. Payne (showrunner/executive producer): “The hardest and best parts were both the same: we love Tolkien.” We loved this material so very much that we wanted to meet it.
Daniel Kinney Spears: “Is anything in the set you would like to keep, or just love?”
Sara Zwangobani, aka Marigold Brandyfoot: “I really wanted to keep my foot. I really wished to keep my feet.
Alex LaMontagne, “How big a part does Sauron play?”
Morfydd (Galadriel), “Well, everybody in Middle-earth has a curiosity about Sauron.”
Charlie Vickers, Halbrand: “Yeah. Where is he?”
Clark: “We are all in this together.” “His shadow was definitely there.”
Vickers: “I believe that something is underneath the entire season.”
Nicolas Ward: What was your favorite word or phrase that you could use in Elvish or Dwarvish?
Patrick McKay, showrunner and executive producer: “What is the thing that she [Galadriel] says to Elrond?” Lindsey, you do it.”
Lindsey Weber: “I am not doing that [laughs]”
Payne: “Lindone lye cava lissenen–“
Weber: “–Lissenen ni cavina.”
Payne: “Lindon welcomes you with grace – I’m received with grace.”
Jessica Funk: Did you immediately feel the importance of the series and the work when you got your role?
Robert Aramayo, Elrond: “I would say yes and no because my deeper exploration of Elrond began at that time. I began reading books, seeing his name [laughs], and learning about all the things that came before him. I was like, “Wow!”
Ashish Raj Shekhar: “Which character do you consider to be the most powerful?”
Lindsey Webber says: “They are all powerful in their respective ways.”
Morgan Dawir: “What is your favorite costume or prop, and why?”
Lindsey Webber’s answer: “Galadriel dagger would be my response.”
Phil Buzzette: What additional research did you do to prepare for the character you were about to embody?
Benjamin Walker (High King Gil-galad): “A ton. “I mean, I thought that not only had I believed every actor entrenched himself in the text, but also we have this army expert.”
Abbas Naqvi asked: “What was most difficult about filming this show (other than screaming with delight every five minutes?
Patrick McKay said: “Carrying that responsibility is not only a joy but also a responsibility we take very seriously. It’s the best and the worst at the same time.
