1- Hang gliding experience in Annecy
Hang gliding is the first of our 11 spring activities to be noticed. This activity is perfect for spring to discover the still-snowy landscapes, green plains, and rivers and lakes overflowing with fresh water. Hang gliding consists of a flying machine with a delta-shaped wing (hence its name), wheels, and a harness on which the “hang gliders,” or people who fly, lie down. You have to start from a high place and run down the cliff. Hang-gliding take-offs can be spectacular! You don’t have to worry because the wing will gain lift immediately, and you can fly for several minutes or even hours. Hang gliding is similar to paragliding and gliding in that you can take advantage of the updrafts for a more extended flight.
This is the perfect experience for those interested in trying this sport for the first time. You can choose from a discovery flight (between 10-20 minutes), a climbing flight (between 20-30 minutes), an acrobatic flight (20-30 minutes), or a prestige flight between 30-40 minutes. This experience will allow you to fly over Lake Annecy and its surrounding mountains. This experience is a great way to see the Aravis range of mountains and the Sambuy.
Before you begin your adventure, you should learn about the differences between paragliding and hang gliding. This will make it easier to decide between the two methods of flying.
2- Via Ferrata du Thaurac near Montpellier
We’ll now move on to a mountain activity: the Via Ferrata. Via Ferrata may not be well-known, but it is an activity that can create unforgettable memories. This sport is perfect for those fearless of heights, confident in their ability to climb mountains, and not experienced climbers.
The via ferrata, a cliff course or a Tyrolean, is a system of cables, ramps, and ladders. With your helmet and harness, you’ll be ready to climb even the highest walls safely.
Via Ferrata du Thaurac is located in the Cevennes National Park, about 50 minutes from Montpellier. The course is situated on the famous cliffs in the Thaurac. You can begin the 2-hour journey to the Thaurac Plateau after a 20-minute stroll from the parking lot. At 320 meters, you’ll enjoy the best views of Languedoc-Roussillon!
Via Ferratas are found all over France. Discover France’s Top 10 Via Ferrata.
Flyboard on the French Riviera
The water warms up, and the season for water sports begins in spring. Flyboarding is the third unusual spring activity on our list.
Flyboarding is an exciting new sport that uses a Jet Ski and equipment under your feet. Flyboarding is a new sport that uses the jetski to propel you over the water like a jetpack. You can dive like a Dolphin and climb to 10 meters in height. On the keyboard, you’ll feel like a superhero. Ironman better be on his guard!
Flyboard in Nice allows you to experience this unique activity in one of France’s most beautiful coastal areas. Flyboarding is a fun activity that takes you just 300 meters away from the coast. You can fly and enjoy the view of the entire Nice coast, up to Cannes. A helmet, a life jacket, and an instructor will be there to assist you. The Grotte des faux Monnayeurs, in the Jura.
Caving is another unique activity in the Jura. This activity aims to explore underground caverns. You will traverse narrow galleries and climb chimneys during a caving expedition before ending up in vast underground rooms. You will often have the chance to see stalagmites and stalactites.
Your instructor will be with you the entire time. Your instructor will also supply you with a wetsuit, helmet, gloves, and gloves (caving is a dirty activity!). If necessary, the harness is also provided.
What’s the appeal of caving? It is not just about the underground landscapes. It’s a true excursion into another world. A total change of scenery. The total loss of time without light is an experience that should be had at least once.
The Grotte des Faux Monnayeurs caving trip is ideal for a first experience. The cave is almost entirely horizontal. There are no ladders, chimneys, or abseiling. You will be able to see a rich historical heritage as well as fossils and natural limestone sculptures. In the heart of Jura. You will need about three hours to explore the entire Grotte des Faux Monnayeurs. The cave is 4G-free!

5 Microlight Flight over the Bay of Arcachon
Microlights will take you to the Nouvelle Aquitaine region to explore the Arcachon Basin. The ULM, also known as an “Ultra-Light Motorized,” is a small plane that allows you to fly high or low at speeds between 60-300 km/h. The ULM can only carry two passengers: the pilot. They do not need landing strips to be prepared and can fly for up to five hours. This allows them to make short trips as well as longer ones.
The microlight flight above the Bay of Arcachon is our first choice to try microlight flying. The basin is an excellent place for microlight flights. The scenery is clear and sublime. You can admire the Dune du Pilat, the Cap Ferret, and the Cap Ferret during a flight lasting 20, 30, or 45 minutes. This microlight flight offers a unique experience, as the pilot can also provide an introduction to piloting if desired!
Many regions offer micro lighting. Please choose your location and discover our ultralight activities in France or abroad.
