From over 200 applicants from around the globe, three inspirational natural leaders in conservation of nature were chosen. Tomas Rivas Fuenzalida (Chile), Alona Prylutska (Ukraine) and Pieter van Wyk (South Africa) were awarded this prestigious nature conservation prize, and each winner was awarded 50,000 euros for their incredible conservation work. On the 21st of April We celebrated the achievements and achievements of Future For Nature Award winners of 2023!
Three inspiring young nature conservationists
It is believed that Chilean conservationist Tomas Rivas Fuenzalida (34 years old) is determined to save the South American’s most rare predators. He has succeeded in locating nests of birds in order to study their population and educates locals on new methods for reducing conflicts between humans and raptors.
Alona Prylutska (33 years old) is a Ukrainian conservationist who is dedicated to the rehabilitation and conservation of microscopic bats within urban environments. She rehabilitates bats trapped in the construction sites, dispels bat-myths and works to create safe spaces for bats within cities.
A South African botanist Pieter van Wyk (34 years old) is dedicated to preserving the unique flora of Richtersveld region of South Africa. Pieter does not shy away when dealing with environmental crimes and, armed with expertise and determination in his work, he strives to save rare succulent species.
Future For Nature Guest of Honour
On the 21st of April, 2023 Pavan Sukhdev attended our event as the guest of honour and was on stage with the winner from the Future For Nature Awards. Pavan Sukhdev, a scientist with a degree as well as an international banker through education, also an economist for the environment through love. His years of experience in sustainable development and the invisible economy of nature led him to his appointment as the head of the United Nations’ “Green Economy Initiative ” and to be the leader of the G8+5 study, TEEB (The Economy of Ecosystems and Biodiversity).
