The Junk Man took millions of dollars worth of ore out from the mine because he was smart enough to consult an expert before giving up.

R. U. Darby was a young man at the time, and he was responsible for raising the majority of the funds that went towards the machine. It was given to him by his neighbors and relatives because they believed in him. He returned every dollar, even though it took him years to do so

He recovered his losses many times when he discovered that DESIRE could be transformed into gold. He made the discovery after he started selling life insurance.
